Project: Ensuring Data Integrity in Orbital Communication

An innovative solution for protecting data integrity in distributed edge systems using blockchain and memristor technology.

Our Mission

The project addresses the issue of data integrity transmitted within a constellation of satellites operating as edge devices.

The proposed solution is a software that ensures the authenticity and reliability of data through the creation of digital fingerprints (hashes), their recording in the blockchain and subsequent verification.

Main Objectives

  • Autonomous verification of data integrity without the need for constant oversight from Ground operators.
  • Reduction in energy requirements for data verification compared to conventional solutions.
  • Research on the sustainability of blockchain technology in the Space environment.

Research of hardware infrastructure to increase energy efficiency of local computations in space.

Simulation of extreme network overload and rapid data volume growth in CVTI SR data centers.

  • Development of a functional SW prototype on an optimized blockchain network.

  • Preparation of CVTI SR infrastructure for load simulations.

  • Extensive load tests in CVTI SR data centers.

By creating a unique software solution in cooperation with industry leaders, Slovakia gains a competitive advantage in the field of Edge Computing systems as well as a model for transferring theoretical research into industrial practice.

Scientific progress and digital security

In addition to the economic dimension, the project brings fundamental benefits to the field of cybersecurity. The developed algorithms will be applied in all industries where data integrity is essential - from autonomous systems to public infrastructure.

Research of memristors as low-energy elements responds to the demand for ecological solutions in the IT sector. Publication of top-level studies and data sharing strengthens the prestige of Slovak research on an international scale.
